Beer and Liquor Licenses
Process
The Williams County Auditor’s Office issues beer and liquor licenses for establishments located outside of a corporate city limit, but within Williams County, in accordance with Ordinance No. 2025-11-18. Licenses will not be issued to properties that have outstanding property taxes.
Step 1: Complete a Williams County Application
- Beer License
- Liquor License
- Combined Beer & Liquor License
- Special Event Permit - required when selling alcoholic beverages at a special event
Step 2: Complete a Township Consent Form
- Fill out Township Consent Form
- Get it signed by the Township Board
Step 3: Get a Fire Inspection
- Contact the Williams County Fire Inspector to complete a Fire Inspection

Step 4: Return Completed Application Materials to the Auditor's Office

Step 5: Complete the license through the State of North Dakota

Fees
Fees for different types of licenses are provided below. Licenses are valid for the calendar year and are renewable. Applications for renewal are sent to current license holders in November each year; approvals for renewals are sent in December. Liquor licenses include wine.
