The mission of the Building Division is to safeguard the public safety, health, and general welfare of Williams County residents through the enforcement of the North Dakota State Building Code by performing plan reviews, issuing building permits, and conducting building and fire inspections. The Building Division is also responsible for assigning addresses to parcels located in Williams County that are outside of a city's jurisdiction.
The 2023 North Dakota State Building Code consists of the 2021 International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) published by the International Code Council (ICC).
