Blacktail Dam


Beginning Monday, June 21st, Williams County Highway will be doing bridge construction on County Road 10 (69th St NW), the road leading to Blacktail Dam. The construction area includes the bridge located right before the turn that goes north into Blacktail Dam (141st Ave NW). This portion of County Road 10 will be closed until approximately 8/10/21. Detour signs will be in place. Map of area.
To access Blacktail Dam during this time:
• Enter from the west using County Road 10 and 141st Ave NW
• Enter from the east using the County Road 3 detour going north


The park at Blacktail Dam is located about 25 miles north of Williston and offers camping, picnic areas, boating, and several playgrounds. There is also a 9 hole golf course located on the north side of the park.

4th of July Camping Information

Planning on camping at Blacktail Dam for 4th of July weekend? Here’s what you need to know:

  • All campers must vacate their campsite by 5 pm on Sunday, June 20th.
  • Check-in for 4th of July holiday camping will begin on June 21 at 9 am. Campers are limited to a 14 night stay.
  • Williams County Parks staff members will be onsite from 9 am to 5 pm, June 21 to July 3, and will assist with parking.
  • If you arrive during non-staffed hours, you may be asked to move.

General Camping Information

Camping fees are cash or check only and must be paid upon arrival. All campsites are first come, first served.

Primitive or Tent Campsites: $10/night
There are 9 dedicated tent campsites.

Primitive camping is allowed anywhere on park land, but campfires are only allowed in fire rings.

Electric Campsites: $15/night
There are 54 campsites with electrical hookups (30V/50V/110V).

Group Camping
There is one site with electrical hookups designated for Group Camping. Campers must pay individually, per night. A minimum of 2 campers/RVs and a maximum of 4 campers/RVs are allowed.

Overflow Camping
There are 9 campsites designated for Overflow Camping; these campsites are only available during special events.

New in 2021 10 seasonal campsites are available through a lottery system for a cost of $1,750 per site. The season lasts from May 1st through September 30th; only RVs and campers are permitted to apply for the seasonal sites. The lottery is now closed; check back next year!


All motorized and non-motorized watercraft are allowed.


The Blacktail Dam Golf Course is a 9 hole, par 3 course located on the north side of the park. A $5 donation is suggested. Please bring your own clubs, balls, and tees. A bathroom and a picnic shelter are located by the 1st tee. Download the course map here.
