Blacktail Dam


The park at Blacktail Dam is located about 25 miles north of Williston and offers camping, picnic areas, boating, and several playgrounds. There is also a 9 hole golf course located on the north side of the park.

Water to the fish cleaning station will be shut off for the season no later than October 15, 2021.

Seasonal Campsites

Mark your calendars! The lottery for 2022 seasonal campsites at Blacktail Dam opens on Tuesday, March 1st! 

This year, five seasonal campsites are available at Blacktail Dam. The season will last from May 1st through September 30th and each site costs $1,750. Only RVs and campers are permitted to apply for the seasonal sites.

Nightly Camping

Camping fees are cash or check only and must be paid upon arrival. All campsites are first come, first served.

Primitive or Tent Campsites: $10/night
There are 9 dedicated tent campsites.

Primitive camping is allowed anywhere on park land, but campfires are only allowed in fire rings.

Electric Campsites: $15/night
There are 55 campsites with electrical hookups (20/30/50 amp).

Group Camping
There is one site with electrical hookups designated for Group Camping. Campers must pay individually, per night. A minimum of 2 campers/RVs and a maximum of 4 campers/RVs are allowed.

Overflow Camping
There are 9 campsites designated for Overflow Camping; these campsites are only available during special events.

New in 2021 10 seasonal campsites are available through a lottery system for a cost of $1,750 per site. The season lasts from May 1st through September 30th; only RVs and campers are permitted to apply for the seasonal sites. The lottery is now closed; check back next year!


All motorized and non-motorized watercraft are allowed.


The Blacktail Dam Golf Course is a 9 hole, par 3 course located on the north side of the park. A $5 donation is suggested. Please bring your own clubs, balls, and tees. A bathroom and a picnic shelter are located by the 1st tee. Download the course map here.
