
Blacktail Dam
CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
Construction at Blacktail Dam, as part of the Parks Master Plan implementation effort, will begin in May 2025. The park will remain an active construction zone through 2026. During construction, the park will remain open in a limited capacity for both camping and recreation.
Visitors and residents will still be able to use the boat ramp, but the route to reach the ramp may change throughout the year. On-site signage will provide guidance as construction progresses. The main playground, fish cleaning station, and shower house will not be available, but the Par 3 golf course and the beach will be fully open.
Online campsite reservations will open on May 19, 2025, beginning at 8:30 am, for dates between May 23 and October 31, 2025. It may take up to 30 minutes for the system to initially show all available campsites. Camping is only permitted in designated campsites.
About
The park at Blacktail Dam is located about 25 miles north of Williston and offers camping, picnic areas, boating, and several playgrounds. There is also a Par 3 9 hole golf course located on the north side of the park.

Boating
All motorized and non-motorized watercraft are allowed.
Golf
The Blacktail Dam Golf Course is a 9 hole, par 3 course located on the north side of the park. A $5 donation is suggested. Please bring your own clubs, balls, and tees. A bathroom and a picnic shelter are located by the 1st tee. Download the course map here.
Campfires
Campfires may only be built in the provided fire rings, which may not be moved from their current location. All fires must be supervised by a person of at least 18 years of age and must be maintained in a safe manner in accordance of the ND Rangeland Fire Danger Index. Nightly Camping
Primitive Campsites: $10/night
For the 2025 camping season, there will be 12 primitive campsites available. RVs are allowed to camp in primitive sites and use a generator.
Electric Campsites: $15/night
For the 2025 camping season, there will be 9 campsites with electrical hookups (20/30/50 amp) available. All sites (Sites 44 - 52) are located next to the beach.
*Seasonal campsites will not be offered in 2025.
