Williams County Parks to host 2026 Ice Fishing Derby at Epping/Springbrook Dam

WILLISTON, N.D. (January 15, 2026): The Williams County Parks Youth Ice Fishing Derby returns Saturday, February 28, with the event being held at Epping/Springbrook Dam. “We’re excited to hold the derby at Epping/Springbrook Dam for the first time this year,” says Parks Director Jeremy Ludlum. “This is such a great event to bring together multiple generations and get outside during the winter” he adds.

The free, family-friendly event will run from 10 am to 4 pm and a picnic lunch will be available from 11 am to 1 pm.

Know Before You Go:

  • Open to youth ages 15 and under; all youth must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Never fished before? No problem! The United Sportsmen of Williston will have volunteers on-hand to help with getting you started.
  • Bring your own pole and tackle; bait will be provided.
  • Fish houses, tents/clams, and sonar are allowed.
  • Residents and nonresidents age 16 and older need a fishing license. Residents under age 16 may take and possess a limit of fish without a fishing license. Any nonresident under age 16 may take and possess a limit of fish without a nonresident fishing license if accompanied by an individual possessing a valid fishing license. Visit the Game and Fish website to purchase a license online.

Thank you to the United Sportsmen of Williston for helping make this event happen.
