Mosquitoes are so bad this year! Why?

There is a very direct relationship between the amount of standing water the number of mosquitoes we have during the year. The more rainfall and flooding the more likely it will be a bad year. There are exceptions, but they are not very common.

I never see Vector Control out and about. Are you even treating this year?

Adulticide treatments occur near sunset when mosquitoes are most active and sprays can be the most effective. In the summertime that can mean 10 pm or later. We operate a variety of mosquito traps that are dispersed throughout the county and its municipalities. We collect these traps on a daily basis, excluding weekends and holidays. Campsites can be reserved in advance online for Blacktail Dam, Epping/Springbrook Dam, Kota Ray Dam, and Little Egypt. Up to four sites per park, per reservation, per person are allowed. How far in advance can I reserve a campsite?

Beginning March 1, 2023, campsites can be reserved in advance by booking online (not available for McGregor Dam) for any future date in 2023. Campers can reserve a site for maximum of 14 days (13 nights) with a maximum of four sites per reservation, per person.
