5/13/2025: Williams County Vector Control District (WCVCD) will be conducting a targeted ground adulticide mosquito spray mission tonight, Tuesday, May 13, in Williston’s Spray Block 8, weather permitting. Link to Spray Block Map
The department will move forward with spraying tonight if wind speeds remain between 12–15 MPH. For safety and effectiveness, it will be rescheduled if gusts exceed this.
This immediate decision follows recent trap results with the intention to control the population before forecasted weather changes limit efforts later this week.
NOTE: Residents are reminded to please stay at least 300 feet away from a Vector Control truck while it is fogging.
The WCVCD uses Zenivex E20 for adult mosquito control treatments (adulticides), which contains the active ingredient Etofenprox. Zenivex E20 is a product approved for use in residential areas by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
To avoid mosquito bites, citizens are advised to take extra precautions when spending time outdoors during the hours of dusk to dawn during the summer months. Wearing long sleeve tight knit shirts and long pants, limiting time outdoors during these times, and using a mosquito repellent such as DEET, Picardin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus are good actions to take to prevent bites. Residents can help prevent mosquito re-population by eliminating standing water on their property.
