Emergency Management Opens Temporary Shelter

Williams County/Williston Emergency Management is opening a temporary shelter for individuals/families without power at their residence due to the April 23rd Blizzard.

Beginning at 6:00pm on April 25, 2022 individuals/families who do not have electrical service can check in to the temporary shelter for access to sleeping cots, food, and water.  Citizens seeking shelter are asked to bring personal care items (e.g. toothbrush and deodorant), medications, sleeping bag/blanket, and pillow.   Families should bring supplies for feeding and sleeping infants and small children.  Individuals/families are asked to leave their pets at home or find other arrangements for their care as they are not allowed at the shelter.  No drugs, alcohol, or weapons are allowed at the shelter and valuables should be left at home or in a locked vehicle.

The temporary shelter will be located in the Williston Parks and Recreation District’s Area Recreation Center (ARC) at 822 18th St E, Williston.  Shelter access will be available through ARC Door #4 (northwest corner) and parking for citizens using the shelter will be marked with signage.

The Upper Missouri District Health Unit will assist with health screenings, Williams County Sheriff’s Office and City of Williston Police Department will provide security and the American Red Cross volunteers will be on site to support shelter operations.
