Josey & the Whalers at Blacktail Dam

Visit Blacktail Dam About the band: Josey and the Whalers is a three-piece group based out of Williston and Sidney. Josey, originally from Wyoming, resides in Sidney, MT. She learned to play piano as a child and attended the University of Montana, majoring in music. Jeff, on guitar, moved to Williston from Minneapolis where he recorded a blues album and toured the country. Hoppy, on percussion, has played reggae and funk for over 30 years. Their music style is rooted in the old-school twang of the country singers who came before them. The sisters, 17 and 20 years old, are torchbearers of a sound they proudly call "new wave retro country." They play songs of outlaw artists, Americana and Classic Country on stages across the Midwest. The duo was crowned "New Artist of the Year" at the 2020 Midwest CMAs.
